Located at 150 Pill Hill Road, between Mount Airy Road and Meeker Road, the Compost Facility is operated by the Public Works Department for Brush and Leaf Disposal.

Open Saturdays 9:00 am and 2:30 pm.

As of 2023, Bernardsville Borough Residents are admitted with any valid ID or proof of address. Resident Passes are not required. Contractors and Commercial Vehicles require individual permits per load (see below).
FREE HOUSEHOLD CLEANUP DAYS are scheduled for every spring and fall. Details are posted here.

NO Branches larger than six (6) inches in diameter may be deposited at the facility for disposal, per regulations.

NO ELECTRONICS are ever permitted at the Compost Facility.

A/C UNITS OR DEHUMIDIFIERS PERMITTED ONLY at the Free Household Cleanup days (they contain Freon - a contaminant).

Note also that residents are welcome to help themselves to free mulch and wood chips at the compost facility, when they are available.  When possible, our facility operator will machine load materials into trucks or other suitable transportation.

Contractors/Landscapers must have Individual Contractor Brush Disposal Permits for each entry. Contractors/Landscapers should complete the application form (available at top right), submit a copy of your Driver's License and a check payable to Borough of Bernardsville for the applicable amount ($20 for truck load, $30 for Trailer Load, etc) as shown on the application.

Permits can be obtained in person or via mail at: 166 Mine Brook Rd, Bernardsville NJ 07924 8:30am to 4:30pm, M-F.  Once received a permit will be mailed to the contractor's address on the application, or picked up in person when available. The Fees are for individual vehicle entry to the Compost Facility.
